A staff nurse at the Ghana Health Service (GHS) District Hospital in Nkenkaasu in the Ashanti Region, has been issued a query letter by the hospital’s management over offensive vidoes circulating on social media.
The videos allegedly show the nurse, Ms. Bernice Aboagye, using “unprintable, inappropriate, and scandalous” words against the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh during a recent demonstration over unpaid salaries.
According to the letter dated Friday, October 10, 2025, and signed by the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Samuel Freeman Mensah, the office has received several calls from well-meaning Ghanaians expressing their misgivings reservations about the content of the videos.
The videos have sparked discussions on various social media platforms, with people making disparaging comments about the service.
Ms. Aboagye is required to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against her for three alleged offences:
1. Using unacceptable and inappropriate words towards the Minister contrary to Section 8.1(c) of the code of conduct and disciplinary procedures.
2. Using abusive language on the Minister contrary to Section 8.1(1) of the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.
3. Tarnishing the corporate image of the Service and bringing its name into disrepute contrary to Section 4.1(d) of the code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.
The nurse is expected to submit her response to the query by Friday, October 24, 2025.
