It was a night of bliss, glam and honour as twenty four outstanding women across various sectors were awarded for their impactful contributions to national development at the Ghana Women Awards.
The colourful historic event which was held at the Accra International Conference Center highlighted the achievements and potentials of Ghanaian women while advocating for gender equality and the empowerment of women in Ghana.
Notable among the awardees at the GWA 25 included: Chief Fire Officer of Ghana National Fire Service, Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sarpong who received the ultimate award as Legendary Woman, Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie – Lifetime Achievement, Okokodurufo Ohemea Afrakoma II, Akwamuhemea – Outstanding Queen Mother, and Hon. Joana Gyan-Cudjoe, MP for Amenfi Central and CEO of Golden Empire Legacy Ltd – Outstanding Female Miner.
The outstanding women from the security sector who were honoured were; AC Felicia Dadeboe Azuma (Outstanding Female GRA Customs Division Personnel), DOP Mrs Millicent Owusu (Outstanding Female Prisons Personnel), DCOI Mrs Maud Anima Quainoo (Outstanding Female Immigration Service Personnel).
Others are Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye (Outstanding Military Personnel), and DCFO Roberta Aggrey Ghanson (Outstanding Female Fire Service Personnel).
From the business and corporate governance sector, Nadine Jaber, CEO of Cosmo Developers received the Outstanding Female Entrepreneur award; Regina Ofori, Head of Marketing & Brands at Ecobank Ghana PLC got the Outstanding Female Marketer award.
Adeline Akweley Quarshie, Founder and CEO of Credence Micro-Credit also received the Corporate Woman of the Year award while Abigail Kissi, CEO of Abi 1 Skin Talk and Awurakua Antwi Anyaniwa, Brands Marketing Manager of Somotex Ghana Ltd received the Outstanding Cosmetologist and Change Marker awards respectively.
Gospel musician and television host, Empress Gifty Adorye emerged the outstanding entertainer. Media personality, model and philanthropist, Shirley Emma Fatima Tibilla popularly known as Cookie received the Outstanding Female Media Personality while her work colleague Anita Akua Akuffo got the Most Promising Lady award.
Additional honourees were; Mrs Sylvia Linda Aku Larbi (Outstanding Female Architect), Janet Agwiah (Outstanding Midwife), Mrs Sarfoah Afua Ompong (Outstanding Female Nurse), Pastor Selina Baidoo (Outstanding Female Pastor), Hajia Fuseina Fuseini (Outstanding Female Teacher), Mrs Hannah Awadzi (Outstanding Female Journalist) and Dr Marilyn Marbell-Wilson (Outstanding Female Doctor).
