Mfantsipim School (BOTWE), the defending champions of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), have once again demonstrated their supremacy by overpowering long-time rivals Prempeh College and Adisadel College (ADISCO) in a gripping quarter-final contest at the SGS Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast.

Dubbed the “battle of giants,” this showdown delivered every bit of the excitement fans anticipated, filled with energy, tension, and unforgettable moments that kept the packed auditorium buzzing from start to finish.

Right from Round One, the defending champions made their intentions clear. BOTWE took an early lead with 25 points, followed closely by Prempeh with 20, while ADISCO trailed behind with 15 points.

In Round Two, Mfantsipim went into overdrive, thrilling the crowd with their precision and quick thinking. They extended their lead to an impressive 41 points, as Prempeh stagnated at 22 and ADISCO struggled to move past 15.

Round Three, the “Problem of the Day,” offered Adisadel a glimmer of hope. The Cape Coast-based school put up a strong performance, scoring 6 out of 10, the best in that round. Mfantsipim managed 4, while Prempeh secured just 2.

Despite this brief shake-up, the reigning champions maintained a comfortable lead.

As the contest advanced into Round Four, BOTWE showed no signs of slowing down. Their consistent performance pushed their score to 61 points, while Prempeh climbed to 40 and Adisadel improved to 31.

The final round, the riddle round, provided an electrifying finish. Adisadel fought valiantly and matched Prempeh’s pace, but there was no stopping the unstoppable BOTWE boys.

When the dust settled, Mfantsipim emerged victorious with a commanding 64 points, while both Prempeh College and Adisadel College ended with 40 points apiece.

This triumph not only cements Mfantsipim’s place among the greatest schools in NSMQ history but also propels them into the semi-finals of the 2025 edition, as they continue their quest to defend the title and make history once again.
