Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, who has come under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in an attack on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations (NAIMOS) task force at Hwidiem, has been arraigned before the court.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2025, reportedly stemmed from a raid on illegal mining sites in the area by the NAIMOS task force.

Mr. Addo has been accused of instigating the attack; however, he denied any involvement and clarified that his presence at the scene was solely to calm tensions.

The Police Administration instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and commence investigations.

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the MP, together with his legal team and accompanied by the Majority Chief Whip, appeared at the CID Headquarters before being formally charged and taken to court.

“He went with the Majority Chief Whip and his lawyer. They received him at the CID headquarters and took him through the processes. I received a call not quite long ago that he has been taken to court, and as we speak, he is in court being arraigned,” Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga said in Parliament.

Mr. Ayariga reminded the House of the public position they hold and the need to uphold their status by being law-abiding.
