President John Dramani Mahama has congratulated Godwin Asediba of TV3 Network Limited for winning ‘journalist of the year’ award and other journalists who received awards at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Awards held in Kumasi on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, November 9, 2025, he praised the GJA for its decision to host the awards ceremony outside of Accra, describing it as an “innovative decision.”
He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a “free, safe, and efficient media.”

President Mahama emphasized that he would not sanction or tolerate any form of intimidation, interference, or attack on journalists, underscoring the importance of a free press in a democratic society.
To further promote a positive relationship between the media and security agencies, he directed the Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu and the Minister responsible for National Security, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka to establish a permanent forum for regular engagements between the two entities.

The goal of this initiative is to foster mutual respect and prevent incidents that could undermine the work of journalists.
