Ghanaian artiste, Cojo Rae, has shared the emotional inspiration behind his heartfelt song ‘I’m Not Safe’ revealing that the song was drawn from a personal and painful experience in a past relationship.
Speaking in an interview on Y’adumanie on Angel FM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the fast-rising singer revealed that the song came out of a real life experience from a difficult relationship.
“Relationships nowadays, you move from one place to another and sometimes it comes with stress. That was how I was feeling before I released the song… I wasn’t safe in that relationship,” he revealed.
He added that ‘I’m Not Safe’ was based on a true story that reflected a personal chapter in his life during a time he was struggling to find peace and emotional stability in his life.
“It was based on a real story,” he added. “I was going through a lot at the time, and music became the only way I could express myself. Every lyric in the song mirrors a piece of what I was feeling.”
Cojo Rae also recounted his musical journey, noting that ‘Don’t Need Your Love’ was his first ever release on all streaming platforms, while ‘Aketesia’ remains his most streamed song to date.
“I really appreciate the love people are showing me,” he expressed with gratitude.
