I will serve with justice, not political interests- Chief Justice Baffoe Bonnie

Chief Justice (CJ) Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has highlighted the importance of an independent, impartial, and accountable judiciary.

He stressed that justice should work for all Ghanaians, not just the influential.

Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Jubilee House in Accra, Mr. Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized the need for a service-oriented judiciary with efficient courts and staff, committed to upholding ethical standards.

“My vision for the judiciary is that of service oriented institutions, calls that are efficient, transparent and respectful of all person, judges and staff who uphold the high ethical standards,” he underscored.

According to him, the judiciary should deliver justice promptly and fairly, led by judges who balance independence with humility, courage with fairness, and knowledge with compassion, insisting it must serve justice and not political interests.

“I envision judges who are independent yet humble, fearless yet fair, leaned yet compassionate,” he pointed out.

Speaking further, Mr. Baffoe-Bonnie pledged to support improvements within the courts including better facilities, enhanced training for judicial personnel, and the adoption of modern technology to streamline processes and broaden public access to justice.

“I pledge to support the uplifting of the court infrastructure a continuing training of judges and staffs, the deployment of information and communications technologies to improve case flow and increase outreach to the citizenry,” he highlighted.
