The Deputy Field Operations Officer for the United Party (UP), Afia Korankyewaa, has claimed that the country’s new wave under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration must be attributed to the founder and leader of the United Party (UP), Alan Kyerematen.
She asserted that most ideas of Mr. Kyerematen, as captured in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), have been indirectly adopted by the incumbent NDC government and are being implemented in the running of the country.
“They used some of our ideas to restore the economy, stabilized the country, just as stated in the Great Transformational plan under the 10 pillars,” she suggested on Angel TV on the Angel Morning Show (AMS).
For this, she believes the NDC leadership should appreciate Mr. Kyerematen for his contribution, describing him as a “selfless” leader who did not keep his ideas and contributions to himself.
“We didn’t come to power but we campaigned for change and Alan kyeremanten cannot be left out when it comes to innovative ideas to create jobs.”
In Ms. Korankyewaa’s argument, the 2025 budget read by the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, represents the exact policy of the GTP presented to President Mahama when he assumed office.
“I am overjoyed that the policy, the brain child, the Great Transformational Plan, which was presented to His excellency John Dramani Mahama, when Ato Forson read the budget… Even if they didn’t read our Great Transformational plan and brainwashed their budget, it’s still in line with ours,” she emphasied.
She expressed her excitement about the budget, stating that members of the UP feel proud seeing how an opposition party’s ideas are manifesting in the country’s affairs.
“I am very excited ever since Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson read the national budget, looking through the budget, I had smiles all over, that’s because when your government is not in power but your ideas are presented in the government, when you identify your ideas being used, it sound very exciting,” she said.
