Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo North, Haruna Mohammed, has expressed belief without prejudice that former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, will be found guilty in the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) scandal being investigated.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Mr. Mohammed noted that since the inception of Ken Ofori-Atta’s tenure, the company had been incorporated for only three weeks before securing the contract.
“During Ken Ofori-Atta’s tenure, SML had been incorporated for only three weeks in securing contracts, and the company had no experience or track record of performance. There has never been any contract in Ghana as extravagant as the alleged Ken Ofori-Atta corruption reports,” he claims.
He further explained that although the SML company was rejected twice by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), the contract was still allowed to proceed without parliamentary approval.
“Some of the SML procurements did not go through parliamentary approval, yet the company still received GH¢ 65million without the required authorization,” he reiterated.
In view of these, Mr. Mohammed was hopeful that the former finance minister would not go scot free when investigations are completed.
