A delegation from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior has toured centers for the commencement of the 2025/2026 recruitment of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the Greater Accra Region.

The move was to familiarize the centers and observe the execution of the exercise.

The delegation, led by the Committee’s Chairman, James Agalga, embarked on the visitation on Thursday, November 20, 2025, following the commencement of the screening exercise for potential recruits.

The centers visited included the El-Wak and Nicholson Sports Stadia, as well as the Air Force Base, which formed part of the selected locations for the exercise.

Mr. Agalga commended the Military High Command, especially the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Williams Agyapong, for the smooth exercise and expressed satisfaction with the orderly and tranquil process.

On his part, the CDS, Lieutenant General Williams Agyapong, praised the Parliamentary Select Committee for the gesture and thanked the general public, especially the potential recruits, for adhering to the directives and measures put in place by the military to ensure a seamless process.

The Director-General of Human Resource, Commodore Francis Nyarko, also confirmed that the Greater Accra Regional screening exercise had proceeded as planned in all centers.

The screening exercise for potential recruits in the Greater Accra Region comprises documentation and body selection, which form part of the first phase of the recruitment process.

To manage overcrowding and streamline the exercise, the screening is conducted across eight sub-centres at designated military locations.

The El-Wak Sports Stadium (2 centres), Nicholson Park, Burma Camp (2 centres), Air Force Base (Burma Camp), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC, 2 centres), Teshie, and the Eastern Naval Command (Tema).

The first batch of applicants, who received official messages, reported to the various centers and underwent the initial phase of screening, which included documentation and body selection.

According to GAF, only successful applicants at this stage will be contacted to continue the process in the next phase.

“To ensure efficiency, officials divided the potential recruits into two groups, allowing for a steady flow of applicants and smooth coordination at the centre,” the Force stated in a series of updates on its Facebook wall.

GAF described day one of the screening process as “orderly, timely and calm.”

The exercise had previously been suspended after the El-Wak tragedy that claimed six lives and left several injured.
