Leader of the Union Government(UG), Akwasi Addae Odike, has urged the Christian Council to shift its focus from completing the cathedral to addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment in the church.
Speaking in a panel discussion on Angel TV on Monday, November 24, 2025, Odike underscores the urgent need for the Council to play an active role in creating jobs for the youth.
“We are appealing to the Christian Council; our youth are unemployed. Ghana is looking for churches to support job creation initiatives,” he stated.
He further expressed that, if given the opportunity to lead the country, he would collaborate with churches to develop manufacturing and agricultural projects.
Odike encouraged the church to follow the example of Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo, who successfully integrated various enterprises within his church, benefiting many community members.
“We want the church to emulate Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo. Look at the initiatives he introduced, he trained tailors and artisans and engaged in agriculture, allowing many to benefit,” he noted.
He reminded that President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign message explicitly stated he would not complete the cathedral project, thus, he advised the Christian Council to allow him to focus on his responsibilities.
