The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in two separate security operations within the region.

In a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service (GPS) on Monday, December 15, 2025, two of the suspects were arrested for the robbery and murder of 28‑year‑old Silver Ngosi, a female victim at Asokore Mampong.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 6, around 5:00 pm.

The suspects identified are Farouk Iddris, (20years), a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, (19years), a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider.

Investigations revealed they robbed the deceased and one of them stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death.

A search of Farouk’s room recovered a machete, knives and other weapons.

Salim confessed to using a zigzag‑edged knife to stab the victim.

In a related operation on Friday, December, 12, police arrested three additional suspects involved in a series of street robberies in areas including Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kenyase, Bosore, Duase, Amra, Mayanka, Ayeduase and surrounding zones.

The suspects are Abdul Fatawu, also known as “UN”, (22years); Philip Nyarko, also known as “Kawawa”, (24years); and Samak Hadi, also known as “Toronto”, (21years).

Items recovered from their hideout at Aboabo include 59 iPhones, 6 Android phones, 4 tablets and 5 laptops.

All five suspects have confessed to the offences in their caution statements and remain in police custody assisting with investigations.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command urges members of the public who may have been victims of these crimes to report to the Command to aid ongoing investigations.

The suspects will be arraigned before court to face the full rigors of the law.

The police administration reaffirms its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the Ashanti Region and calls on the public to support the Police with timely information to combat crime.
