The Vice-Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, has urged graduates of technical universities to take responsibility for Ghana’s transformation by applying the skills and knowledge they have acquired, rather than joining the growing number of unemployed graduates.

He expressed concern over the disappointing trend of technical university graduates, who possess practical knowledge and skills, remaining unemployed despite their potential to create solutions to national problems and reduce unemployment.

Rev. Prof. Eshun emphasised that graduates are expected to be leaders of national development and agents of change.

He encouraged them to eschew unproductive lifestyles and focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving as a means to advance the nation.

These remarks were made during the 26th Congregation Ceremony of Takoradi Technical University, where over three thousand students were awarded degrees and diplomas in various disciplines.

“I’m delighted that you’ve successfully fulfilled all the requirements of the University and are graduating today.

“I congratulate you on this programme achievement; you’ve been equipped with knowledge, technical skills, and values that position you to continue contributing meaningfully to national development and to help address the challenges confronting our country.

“As you step into the world of work, I urge you to explore more prospective challenges and generate innovative ideas that go beyond conventional boundaries.

“Do not always wait to be employed; rather, let your unity, creativity, and problem-solving abilities guide you, especially at a time when the global economy is gradually recovering from major disruptions.”

Speaking on behalf of the Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Abdel Mageed, congratulated the graduates and highlighted the opportunities ahead.

He reminded them that the world of work is rapidly changing, driven by technology, innovation, and global competition.

Mr. Abdel encouraged graduates to uphold values such as hard work, integrity, creativity, and lifelong learning.

He added that graduates should serve as ambassadors of Takoradi Technical University, contributing meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
