The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two men for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition during a patrol operation at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
The suspects identified as Kwame Boahen, 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, 52, an okada rider were intercepted on Saturday, December 20, 2025, while riding a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate.
According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the arrest followed an incident the previous day when the patrol team attempted to stop the same motorbike for a routine check.
The suspects allegedly abandoned the bike and tried to flee, however, they were apprehended after a brief chase.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of one pistol bearing number 3963 with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH,” seventy-two rounds of ammunition, four mobile phones, two wristwatches, and other items.
The statement said the suspects have been cautioned and are assisting with investigations while in police custody.
The exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes, while efforts are underway to trace the owners of the recovered mobile phones and establish the source of the firearm and ammunition.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing credible information to help combat crime and enhance public safety.
