The Pai-Katanga Fire Post in the Oti Region received an emergency call from the Pai-Katanga District Police Commander, ASP Frimpong, reporting a road traffic collision at Asukawkaw.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer for the Oti Region on Sunday, December 28, 2025, it was stated that the crew observed a Scania truck overturned
“The duty crew, led by Officer-in-Charge Sub/O John Justice Kpego, was dispatched to the scene in an Opel Astra taxi. Upon arrival at 08:43 hours, they observed a Scania truck lying on its side ,” the statement detailed.
According to the fire crew, the truck was en route from Benin to Nkawkaw when the accident occurred, the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
“The truck was reportedly traveling from Benin to Nkawkaw before the incident, the cause of the accident is still under investigation,” the statement noted.

Witnesses and police officers at the scene reported that three individuals, including the driver, were rescued and taken to the hospital prior to the fire crew’s arrival.
According to eye witnesses three people, including the driver, were on board the truck when the accident occurred,
Fortunately, they were rescued and taken to the Worawora Government Hospital before the fire crew’s arrival,” the statement revealed.
The crew subsequently worked to clear hazards from the road to ensure the safety of other road users.
“The crew returned to base at after clearing all hazards from the road, ensuring safe passage for other motorists,” the statement noted.
The Pai-Katanga Fire Post further commended the Pai-Katanga District Police Commander for organizing transportation for the Swift Response Team.
