Florence Obinim, wife of Bishop Daniel Obinim, has addressed claims that her husband instructed her to stay away from social media.
Speaking in an interview with Nayas on Experiences in Life on Angel TV on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Florence Obinim said she had not personally heard her husband make such comments in church but was informed about it by others.
“I honestly haven’t heard what my husband said about me to stay away from social media, but rather about three people who called to inform me about it,” she stated.
According to Florence Obinim, it was actually Bishop Obinim who encouraged her to join TikTok as a platform to promote her music. She explained that she initially had no knowledge of how the app works and relied on someone else to manage the account on her behalf.
“Because it is Bishop who helped me and advised me to come on TikTok so that I can promote my music, I didn’t even know how TikTok is being used, so there was someone handling my account,” she said.
She further explained that at a point, her husband insisted she should learn how to use the platform herself.
“My husband told me to join TikTok and use it to promote my music, and I told him I don’t even know how it’s used. So he made me call the person handling my account to come over so they could log in on my phone for me to be able to use it myself, which we did,” she added.
Florence Obinim suggested that the statement attributed to her husband may have been misunderstood. She clarified that Bishop Obinim’s concern was specifically about TikTok Live sessions, not social media as a whole.
“If Bishop is saying I should stay away from social media, then it could be that he wants me to stay away from TikTok live instead,” she explained.
She recounted an incident where she went live on TikTok and her husband cautioned her about potential public backlash if mistakes were made.
“He warned me that if I make a mistake or something, people will laugh at me and say things about me. I told him it’s normal, we all laughed about it and moved on,” she said.
Florence Obinim concluded by stressing that while her husband advised her to stop going live on TikTok, he never asked her to completely stay away from social media.
“So if it’s TikTok live he’s talking about, then he indeed told me to put a stop to it. But he didn’t say I should stay away from social media,” she added.
