The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the death of a six-year-old boy who drowned in an uncovered water storage tank at Kasoa Wallantu in the Central Region on Monday evening.
According to the Service’s facebook post on Monday, December 29, 2025 “the body was recovered and handed over to the Police for preservation and further investigation; GNFS extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”
The GNFS stated that initial report indicates that the child drowned while attempting to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the open tank.
The Fire Service also commiserated with the bereaved family and appealed to parents, guardians, and property owners to properly secure all water storage facilities to avert future incidents, while urging the public to promptly report emergencies through its designated emergency lines.
“The Service also encouraged the public to report emergencies promptly through the emergency lines 112, 0201500360, or 0302772446,” the Service noted.
