Pregnant women at Kasoa Polyclinic in the Central Region faced a harrowing ordeal on Sunday, December 29, 2025, when a power outage hit the facility, leaving the labour ward in darkness.
The clinic, which has no functional generator, was plunged into chaos, putting mothers and their unborn babies at serious risk.
“Many women were seen crying for help, overwhelmed by pain, fear, and uncertainty; This situation is unacceptable, especially considering the critical nature of childbirth.
“The lack of a reliable power backup system has exposed these women to grave danger.
“We appeal to government authorities, health agencies, philanthropists, NGOs, and well-meaning individuals to urgently provide a reliable power backup system, especially a generator, to support Kasoa Polyclinic,” an eyewitnesses lamented.
The polyclinic has been facing challenges, including a lack of basic medical equipment and a dedicated pediatric ward, which compromises the quality of care.
Stakeholders are calling for immediate government intervention to address these issues and ensure the facility is equipped to provide quality healthcare.
