The Police Service has arrested a suspect, Abdulai Ibrahim, for unlawful possession of a firearm and attempted sale in Accra.
A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service (GPS) on Thursday, January 1, 2026, indicates that Ibrahim was arrested on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Sodom and Gomorrah after arranging to meet buyers to sell a CZ rifle for GHC 35,000.
Preliminary investigations reveal Ibrahim had previously transported pump-action guns to individuals in the Northern Region and sourced firearms from an arms dealer near UTC in Accra.

Police retrieved the firearm and are investigating to trace and arrest others involved in the illegal arms trade.
The suspect is in police custody, assisting with investigations as efforts continue to dismantle the network involved in unlawful firearm possession and distribution.
