For years, the Police Hospital has carried the heavy cost of treating unknown patients and burying unidentified bodies without external support.
But with the support of philanthropist and businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo, an eight-bed facility at the Ghana Police Hospital was commissioned on December 30, 2025 to care for “unknown” patients —people brought in without identification or family support.
Hospital officials say the new ward will ease congestion, improve infection control, and restore dignity to patients who are often neglected.
Alhaji Agongo has also pledged to support some of the hospital’s quarterly mass burials and cover medical bills for unknown patients. The initiative, described as unprecedented, marks the first time a private individual has stepped in to share this responsibility, offering new hope to the hospital and the vulnerable people it serves.
