A fire incident occurred near the Royal VVIP Bus Terminal at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, damaging two shops.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent shops on Friday, January 2, 2026.
According to the Service, the two affected shops sustained severe damage, although their contents were only partially affected.
“Two (2) shops were badly damaged by the fire but their contents sustained partial damage,” the Service revealed.
Initial investigations suggest that the blaze originated in one shop before spreading to another, with ongoing inquiries to determine the precise cause.
The fire was reported to the Circle Fire Station at 8:40 PM; However, due to a malfunctioning fire engine, the alert was forwarded to Fire Master Control, which dispatched a unit from the Industrial Area Fire Station as the primary response team.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 8:50 P.M, and with additional support from the National Headquarters and Accra City Fire Stations, they managed to bring the fire under control by 9:08 PM and fully extinguished it by 11:22 PM.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
