The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has expressed solidarity with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the latter prepares to conduct its presidential primaries on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
In a statement released on Friday, January 30, the CPP encouraged all aspirants, delegates, party executives, and supporters to conduct themselves with maturity, respect, and a strong commitment to peace before, during, and after the primaries.
The CPP emphasized that competitive but peaceful primaries are essential for consolidating democratic values, deepening political tolerance, and reinforcing public confidence in political institutions.
The party noted that Ghana’s democracy has earned global admiration largely because political actors have consistently demonstrated restraint and respect for the rule of law.
The CPP believes that the outcome of the NPP primaries, regardless of who emerges victorious, should be accepted in good faith and addressed through established internal party mechanisms where concerns may arise.
The party called on all political parties, including its own, to continue prioritizing peace, dialogue, and democratic ethics in all political engagements.
The CPP wishes the NPP a peaceful, transparent, and successful presidential primary process.
