The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to choose its flagbearer today, Saturday, January 31, as preparations intensify for the 2028 general elections.
Delegates from across the country will participate in the voting exercise, regarded as one of the party’s most crucial internal events since its loss in the 2024 polls.
The presidential primary features five contenders: former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
Others includes former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and businessman Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
Delegates from across the country will participate in the voting exercise. Approximately 211,000 delegates are expected to cast their ballots at over 300 polling centres nationwide.
Ahead of the contest, all five aspirants signed a peace accord, pledging to respect the outcome of the election and to safeguard party unity regardless of the results.
