I have cushioned myself and expected the worse but the worst is not the end of life – Kennedy Agyapong

Political Analyst, Mussa K. Dankwah, has attributed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s loss in the 2026 flagbearership race to a past viral video where he criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, calling him a “liar” – a move Dankwah believes cost Agyapong crucial support.

He explained that Kennedy’s harsh comments towards Bawumia in the viral video swayed voters; those initially backing Kennedy reportedly shifted their support to Bryan Acheampong or Dr. Bawumia instead.

“If you recall, our last poll showed Dr. Bawumia leading with 48% of voters, followed by Kennedy at 25%, Bryan at 6%, and Adu Twum at 1%, while 21% remained undecided.

“Fast forward to the elections, and we saw a significant shift. Just two weeks prior, a viral video surfaced where Ken attacked Bawumia, calling him a liar.

“We predicted it would hurt his chances, and that’s exactly what happened,” he recalled.

He continued; “From Tuesday through Friday, we saw voters who initially backed Ken defecting to either Bryan or Bawumia.”

As stated by Mr. Dankwah, Kennedy lost focus, abandoning his core message to target Bawumia – a shift that alienated potential supporters who initially flocked to his rallies.

“Ken lost so much grounds in a very dramatic fashion; if you are not focused and study on your campaign and you slack a little in the last minute, it will cost you,” he asserted.

He added that Kennedy Agyapong has paid the price for his unnecessary comments, ultimately losing the race.

Mr. Dankwah emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong’s loss was a result of his own doing, finishing with 23.7% of the votes, while Bryan Acheampong secured 18.5%.

The team’s earlier predictions had placed Kennedy at 28% (±3%), but he ultimately fell short.

According to them, Kennedy’s inability to focus on his campaign message, unlike Dr. Bawumia and Bryan’s sharp focus, was a major factor.
