Elections are won with numbers, not prophecies – Hajia Ibrahim
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Ibrahim Hussein Hamdatu, has urged politicians to be cautious about prophecies during elections, noting that they have little influence on outcomes.

She explained that elections are determined by votes and numbers, not prophecies, as many people perceive.

Hajia’s remarks follow a failed prophecy by Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, who predicted that presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong would win the recent presidential primary held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during a panel discussion on Angel TV’s Anopa Bofo, she stated that the prophecy delivered to the disappointed Mr. Agyapong misled him and gave him false hope.

According to her, Mr. Agyapong treated the prophecies as guarantees, which led to avoidable mistakes.

“You gave the candidate false hope, and he took it as a done deal; it made him make some mistakes in the end,” Hajia Hamdatu said.

She also criticized Prophet Elbernard, accusing him of issuing the false prophecy to extort money from Kennedy Agyapong.

“You take money from someone and give them false hope; I feel all the money Elbernard took from Kennedy must be returned,” she pointed out.

She further stated that Kennedy allowed the winning prophecies to get into his head, which made him act carelessly.

“The prophecies were too much. The prophecies about him winning got to him. A week before the election, he began goofing off, on election day, things can change; it’s a lesson for people,” Hajia highlighted.
