The Minority Caucus in Parliament called on the flagbearer-elect of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at his residence after he won the party’s presidential race.
The visit took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, three days after his victory in the fiercely contested race held on January 31.
The delegation, dressed in all-white clothing, was led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who also serves as Member of Parliament for the Efutu Constituency.
According to the Leader, their gesture was to use the opportunity to formally congratulate Dr. Bawumia on his election and reaffirm their unflinching loyalty to his vision.
“I emphasized the need for unity, collective leadership and a firm commitment to align our parliamentary work with his strategic direction.
“With renewed direction and purpose, I pledged our resolve to work together, grow the party’s numbers and secure victory in 2028,” he stated on his official Facebook wall.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed utmost appreciation to the minority MPs for their gesture, describing it as very significant for the party.
“Our leaders in Parliament, the minority, I would like to really thank all of you, I feel very humbled by this visit by the Caucus. It’s really something that is very important,” he stated.
