Greater Accra Regional Minister,Linda Ocloo, has denied claims linking her to political activities in the Ayawaso East elections, describing a viral social media video as misleading and deliberately manipulated.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 8, 2026, the Minister clarified that the viral footage being shared online was taken entirely out of context and did not originate from the Ayawaso East elections.
According to her, the video was recorded during an earlier engagement at the Ablekuma North elections and formed part of a full interview that has since been selectively edited to distort facts and mislead the public.
Ms Ocloo explained that her presence at the Ayawaso East election grounds was strictly in her official capacity as Head of Regional Security. She said her visit was solely to observe proceedings, assess the security situation on the ground, and ensure the maintenance of peace, law, and order.
“At no point was my visit intended to, nor did it, constitute campaigning or support for any candidate or political interest,” she stated.
She further clarified that she had not visited the Ayawaso East Constituency after the burial and prayer service of the late Member of Parliament until the day of the elections. She added that she attended the election grounds dressed in funeral attire, noting that she was clad in black.
The Regional Minister also flatly denied allegations that she distributed ice chests or any other items to a former constituency chairman, who was also a candidate, for onward distribution to delegates. She described those claims as “entirely false and malicious.”
Ms Ocloo condemned what she termed the unethical manipulation and circulation of media content for political mischief or personal gain, warning that such actions were calculated attempts to manufacture controversy where none existed.
She urged the general public and media practitioners to disregard the misleading clips and false claims in circulation and to rely on accurate, complete, and credible information from verified sources.
Reaffirming her commitment to transparency and responsible leadership, Ms Ocloo cautioned that any further attempts to spread falsehoods or deliberately mislead the public would be treated with the seriousness they deserve.
