The Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU) has donated GH¢2,000 to Madam Patricia Kanchonor, a paralyzed and bedridden teacher at the Fumso R/C Basic School in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti Region.
Madam Kanchonor, a dedicated teacher with 14 years of service, has reported been bedridden and paralyzed since January 2022, after sustaining a severe injury while performing her duties at school.
She has been soliciting funds to undergo further surgery after undertaking two previous surgeries.
In a gesture of humor, GHANSU, moved by the story of the embattled government appointee, made a cash donation in a brief ceremony on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The donation gesture, GHANSU said, aimed at supporting fundraising efforts initiated by Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) and the wider public to assist the ailing teacher.
According to the Union, the donation forms part of its corporate social responsibility, extending humanitarian support beyond the sporting community.
The presentation followed a pledge made by GHANSU President, Abraham Boakye, popularly known as ‘One Man Supporter’. He had earlier called into Angel TV’s flagship morning show, Anopa Bofoɔ, during discussions on Madam Kanchonor’s public appeal.
Presenting the cash donation, One Man Supporter disclosed that the Union was touched by the story aired on Angel TV that morning while they were en route to Ghana from Nigeria on an official assignment.

He explained that the Union resolved to donate the money earned from the assignment, noting that it would not have been meaningful if shared among themselves.
Lead producer at Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), Jerry Tsastro Mordey and co-host of the morning show on Angel TV and Angel FM, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa received the cash donation.
They expressed appreciation to GHANSU for the benevolent gesture and assured that the money would be formally delivered to the beneficiary.
Meanwhile, on Monday, February 9, the Anopa Bofoɔ team showed the envelope containing the donation live on national television, as part of their accountability measures and commitment to transparency.
Background on Madam Kanchonor’s predicament
Madam Patricia Kanchonor, a dedicated teacher with 14 years of service, has been bedridden and paralyzed since January 25, 2022, after sustaining a severe injury while performing her duties at school.
Despite undergoing two surgeries and extensive treatment, her condition has not improved. Doctors have reportedly recommended another surgery, estimated to cost millions of Ghana cedis.
According to reports, since her predicament in 2022, Madam Kanchonor has received GH¢2,000 in support from the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), as a member of the association.
However, subsequent appeals to public and private entities have not yielded sufficient funds.
She continues to plead with the public, government, and organizations for financial assistance to undergo the surgery and regain her strength.
