A 45-year-old man has been arrested at Gomoa Dominase Onion Market on suspicion of murdering a woman in Gomoa Potsin, located in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Reports suggest that the suspect raped the victim before brutally attacking her in the bush, ultimately pressing her neck and causing her death during a struggle.
The victim, identified as Habibah, was a cow milk seller who had gone to her farm early on Thursday morning, February 11, when the incident occurred.
The reports continued that before the incident, she had sensed danger and contacted her son to inform him that someone intended to harm her.
Unfortunately, the assault took place while she was still on the phone. After the call ended, her son quickly rallied some friends to come to her aid.
On their way, they encountered the suspect, who had blood on his body and denied responsibility for the murder when confronted.
The group soon realised that Habibah had been killed. In the ensuing confrontation, they began to beat the suspect, but police intervened swiftly to protect him.
He has since been taken to the Kasoa Central East Regional Police Command for further interrogation and investigation.
