Former Asunafo South District Chief Executive (DCE), Frank Aduse Poku, has expressed dissatisfaction with the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration’s prioritisation of the welfare of farmers in the country, especially cocoa farmers.
He called out its leadership, accusing the administration of taking cocoa farmers for granted despite pledging to prioritise their needs during its quest to recapture power in 2024.
Mr. Poku asserted that the NDC, during its campaign towards the 2024 general elections, misled cocoa farmers to secure their votes, facilitating its landslide victory, but has rejected the very promises it made to these farmers.
“Before the 2024 elections, NDC told Ghanaians that the Akufo-Addo led-New Patroitic Party (NPP) was stingy because he is taking cocoa farmers for granted, and promised to ensure that they receive their fair share of the national cake if elected to return to power,” he stated in a panel discussion on Angel TV on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
The former government appointee, in his exposé of the NDC, disclosed that the party went further to hold a press conference in the Ahafo Region amid its propaganda, knowing very well the significance of cocoa farming in the area.
“Ahafo is an NPP zone, but they won only one seat in the 2024 elections. If you want one of the issues that made the NDC to win seats in Ahafo, cocoa is part of it,” he added.
He maintained that the NDC lied to cocoa farmers, which influenced their decision to vote for the party in the 2024 elections, and urged them fulfill their promises.
