Former spokesperson for COCOBOD, Mr. Fiifi Boafo, has called on the government, especially the management of the Board, to give precedence to the plight of cocoa farmers over the purchase of extravagant and luxurious vehicles.
He wondered how the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which criticised the previous administration’s handling of the cocoa sector, would be spending lavishly on Land Cruisers while appearing unconcerned.
Speaking to Ohemaa Skyiwaa on Angel TV, the former spokesperson accused COCOBOD management of focusing on trivial matters while ignoring the more important issues affecting the cocoa sector.
Mr. Boafo hinted that the NDC condemned the use of jute sacks under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but are now the ones buying Land Cruisers, questioning whether those vehicles were necessary.
“The person who claims that buying juice sacks is unnecessary has purchased a Land Cruiser, so ask yourself: if the Land Cruisers they have bought are necessary to facilitate work, why do they consider juice sacks unnecessary for the same purpose?” he questioned on Friday, February 13, 2026.
The media practitioner urged the government to pay attention to the challenges in the cocoa industry and concentrate on solving them rather than engaging in a blame game to merely divert attention.
