Jamaican dancehall star, Popcaan, has been enstooled a chief in the Central Region with the traditional title, Nana Arkoh Kese I, Aboafohen of the Apagyahen Division.
A viral video circulating on social media shows the musician dressed in kente cloth with green leaves around his neck while two elderly women and a man held his hands as part of the customary rites. He was lifted and placed on the chieftaincy stool three times, a symbolic act that signifies acceptance, initiation, and recognition as a chief.
The honour was conferred during Popcaan’s recent visit to Ghana, drawing excitement from fans and cultural enthusiasts both locally and abroad.
The enstoolment highlights the growing cultural ties between Ghana and Jamaica, particularly through music and heritage, as more Caribbean artistes continue to trace and celebrate their African roots.
