A 33-year-old trader, Latifa Salifu, has been remanded into police custody by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) Court in Accra for allegedly stealing a four-day-old baby boy from Mamprobi Polyclinic.
Salifu disguised herself as a nurse in a peach-colored scrub uniform and took the baby from the recovery ward on February 17, under the pretext of administering medicine.
The baby was later found at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, and Salifu was arrested.
According to court Angel News’ Court Correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo, the prosecution believes the crime may be part of a larger syndicate and is seeking more time to complete investigations.
Salifu’s lawyer had applied for bail, citing her client’s status as a mother of two, but the court denied the application.
