Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced that the government will pay Fire Service personnel’s rent allowances together with their monthly salaries.
According to him, the directive will take effect from next month, while the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, works to clear the backlog of rent allowances owed to personnel.
The Minister made the announcement during the launch of the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCAS), a digital platform introduced to strengthen fire safety compliance nationwide on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Mr. Muntaka further urged personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and other regulatory partners to fully comply with and strictly enforce the AFCAS system.
He noted that safer communities and stronger institutions help improve investor confidence and contribute to a more resilient economy.
The Interior Minister added that the digitalized system will modernize safety protocols and improve national fire safety and rescue standards.
