Ghanaian singer, Sefadzi Abena Amesu, also known as Sefa, has opened up about a painful social media experience that once forced her to step away from X (formerly Twitter).
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the “E Choke” hitmaker revealed that the negative comment questioning her talent left her emotionally shaken.
According to Sefa, an X user claimed her former label boss, D-Black, was “wasting his money” on her and described her as talentless.
“I’ve heard a lot of things, but one that really broke me was when I went on Twitter, and someone said, ‘I feel like D-Black is wasting his money on Sefa; she’s talentless,’” she recounted.
The singer admitted the remark left her deeply hurt because it ignored the hard work and personal investment she had put into her craft.
“You people don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. You don’t know how much work I put in, how much investment I’ve made. So to sit on social media and type something because you see me as a nice girl and think I’m just beauty with no brains, it’s very disturbing. That really broke me,” she said.
Madam Sefa disclosed that the experience forced her to temporarily leave the platform and reflect on her journey in the music industry.
However, she noted that the criticism ultimately fueled her determination to prove her worth.
“I told myself I need to prove that I can do it. That was where the vim came from, you have to do more,” she added.
The singer said the episode strengthened her resilience and shaped her motivation to work harder and silence doubters through her achievements.
