President John Dramani Mahama has performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the New Float Glass Manufacturing Company in Shama, located in the Western Region of Ghana.
In his address at the ceremony on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, he noted that the project represents a pivotal milestone in Ghana’s push for industrial transformation.
“When fully operational, the float glass facility will produce 1,400 tons of glass daily, positioning it among the largest on the African continent,” he stated.
According to him, the project is expected to reduce imports, generate an estimated $100 million in annual exports, contribute significantly to national revenue through taxes, strengthen local supply chains, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
President Mahama further emphasised that Ghana’s industrialisation will succeed when the government provides stability, investors bring capital, and communities offer strong partnerships.
He reaffirmed that Made-in-Ghana products can compete globally when driven by skills, innovation, and uncompromising quality. He urged the management and staff to treat the factory as their own.
