At least nine persons are feared dead while others sustained severe injuries after a pit they were reportedly mining in collapsed on them at Attah ne Attah, a community in Asutifi South Constituency of Ahafo region.
According to reports, four other persons sustained serious injuries.
Investigative and environmental journalist, Erastus Asare Donkor, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026.
“Nine Galamseyers dead as mine collapses on them at Attah ne Attah, Asutifi South, Ahafo region. Four injured,” the media practitioner posted.
He expressed concern over the development and, said the incident happened in the same area where alleged miners recently attacked officials of the National Anti-Illegal Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS)
