COP Vance Gariba urges Ghanaians to embrace TVET for self-employment

The Director-General for Research and Planning of the Ghana Police Service, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba, has called on Ghanaians to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip themselves with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

He made the call during the 6th graduation ceremony of HS College held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall

According to him, many developed countries rely heavily on skilled labour to drive their economy, stressing that individuals with practical skills often find employment more easily than those without.

Dr. Gariba noted that tech advancements have made it easier for artisans to improve, explaining that tools like computer-aided designs help pros in fashion and tailoring produce high-quality work with precision.

He added that TVET education equips students with practical skills, enabling them to start their own businesses instead of waiting for jobs.

Dr. Gariba urged graduates not to let their background or current situation limit their ambitions; instead, stay determined and hardworking to succeed.

He praised the graduates for their impressive work, especially the fashion designs, which he said are high-quality and could potentially compete globally.
