The Ministry for the Interior has declared Friday, March 6, 2026, as a statutory public holiday in celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day.
In a post shared on its official website, the ministry emphasized that the day must be recognized and observed nationwide in line with the country’s public holiday laws.
“The general public is hereby informed that Friday, March 6, marks Independence Day, which is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement reads.
This year will mark Ghana’s 69th Independence Day, and it will be observed with commemorative activities expected across the country.
