The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Ghana Police Service, has arrested a 23-year-old student and socialist, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, for allegedly publishing obscene material online.

According to the police, the arrest was made for the publication of obscene content online, contrary to Section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

In a statement shared on Facebook on March 6, 2026, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team explained that officers came across viral intimate videos circulating on social media during routine cyber patrol on Friday, February 27, 2026.

The videos allegedly involved Hayford and were said to have been posted on a public Snapchat account with the username @biggforddd123.

Police indicated that the recordings involved multiple women and dated from 2023 to January 26, 2026.

Following the discovery, the suspect was invited for questioning, during which he reportedly admitted to posting the videos on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

According to the police, Hayford claimed the posts were in response to a TikTok challenge known as “Anti Shakira’s.”

He also allegedly admitted to recording another explicit video in 2023, which he said he sold to an American woman identified only as Naya for $600, which was about GH¢6,500 at the time.

One of the women featured in the videos, identified as Portia Ampofo, was also invited by the police to assist with investigations.

Based on the facts gathered during the interviews, the suspect was later handed over to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters for further investigations.

Police said the suspect was released on police enquiry bail on Thursday night while investigations continue.

The police also used the opportunity to caution the public against posting obscene or related materials online, stressing that such actions are against the laws of the country.

They added that they remain committed to ensuring that the internet is safe for every Ghanaian.
