CLOGSAG reactivates suspended strike with immediate effect

Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) have today, Monday, March 9, 2026, commenced their indefinite nationwide strike.

The Association’s decision follows the government’s inability to implement its agreed conditions of service with the erstwhile administration in 2021 and 2024.

According to the leadership of CLOGSAG, the government’s repeated failure to heed the agreement is the reason for the industrial action.

Though the National Labour Commission (NLC) directed the Association to suspend the planned strike and resume negotiations, it, however, defies and instructed its members nationwide to lay down their tools until the government comply to their demands.

Executive Secretary of the Association, Isaac Bampoe Addo, before the commencement of the strike today, had indicated that the matter remains unresolved and therefore entreated all staff to stay home effective Monday, March 9.

“As you are aware, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), on Thursday, 19th February, 2026, gave notice of the intention of its members to proceed on industrial action.

“The issues remain unresolved and, as a result, all staff of the Civil Service and Local Government Service are enjoined to stay at home with effect from Monday, 9th March until further notice,” the association said in a statement dated Thursday, March 5.
