The Ghana Highway Authority has announced a temporary traffic management arrangement on the Accra-Tema Motorway as part of the ongoing expansion works to facilitate the launching of T-beams for the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge along the N4 Highway.
In a statement dated March 5, 2026, the Authority said, the temporary arrangement will begins March 9, 2026, and is expected to last for four months.
During this period, lanes on the N4 northbound carriageway from Accra towards Madina will be temporarily closed. Traffic will instead be redirected to the southbound carriageway from Madina to Accra, which will be reconfigured to carry vehicles in both directions.
The southbound section, which currently has four lanes, will operate with two lanes in each direction to allow vehicles travelling both toward Accra and toward Madina to move through the construction zone.
According to the Authority, the lane reduction is necessary to ensure a safe working environment for construction workers while maintaining road safety for motorists using the motorway.
It advised motorists to drive cautiously, comply with all traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the duration of the works.
