I made the right choice in signing Wendy Shay – Bullet

Chief Executive Officer of Rufftown Records, Ricky Nana Agyemang, also known as Bullet, has defended his decision to sign Wendy Shay, saying he made the right choice despite early criticism from Ghanaians.

Speaking in an interview, Bullet emphasized his pride in Wendy Shay’s contributions to Ghana’s youth, particularly young girls.

He explained that just because the late Ebony Reigns is no longer around, it didn’t mean he should hesitate to introduce new talent.

“Ghanaians can be very critical, almost as if some can foresee the future,” Bullet said. “When I introduce an artist and they don’t face criticism, it usually shows the artist may not be a star.”

He added that Wendy Shay’s early critics actually helped him recognize her potential.

“If they hadn’t targeted Wendy, I wouldn’t have realized she was a star. Other artists were copying Ebony’s style, yet no one criticized them. They attacked Wendy because they saw her potential to become a superstar,” he said.

Bullet also shared how he discovered Wendy Shay. He met her through a friend, Kwesi Ernest, and was immediately impressed despite already managing several artists.

“For a nurse who said ‘forget about the nursing, I am here to hustle,’ she came to Ghana with only 5 euros. I had scouted other artists, but when I saw her, I decided to start the journey with her,” he recounted.

He concluded by highlighting Wendy Shay’s achievements.

“There is no other female artist in Ghana with as many hit songs and a dedicated fanbase as Wendy Shay,” Bullet affirmed.
