The Member of Parliament-elect for Ayawaso East Constituency, Baba Jamal, will be sworn into office on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Parliament House.
The swearing-in ceremony scheduled at 1:30 PM will be administered by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin.
He will be representing the people of Ayawaso East when he is officially ushered as the newly elected legislator into the House.
Announcing his upcoming swearing-in ceremony on Facebook on Monday, March 9, the MP-elect said he was deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve the constituency.
“Indeed, Allah’s ways are perfect. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to working together with you to build a brighter and greater future for the Ayawaso East Constituency,” he wrote.
Baba Jamal won the Ayawaso East by-election held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He had 10,884 votes, defeating his main challenger, Yusif Ali Baba of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who obtained 4,009 votes.
Other candidates in the race included independent candidate Mohammed Umar Sanda, who garnered 1,885 votes. Ibrahim Idrissu secured 43 votes, while Kanor David obtained 104 votes.
