Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, has shared her thoughts on marriage and divorce, revealing why ending her long-standing union is not something she considers an option.
Speaking during an interview on the Afropolitan Podcast featured on PulseNigeria247, the Nigerian actress explained that although she does not condemn divorce, she believes every marriage is different because people themselves are different.
“I just always believe that marriage is a personal thing. No two marriages are the same because no two persons are the same. So the ingredients might not be the same; you might not be married to the kind of person I’m married to,” she said.
Omotola highlighted the strength of her relationship with her husband, noting that trust and understanding have been key factors in their marriage, which has lasted for about 30 years.
According to her, issues such as infidelity have never been a source of conflict between them.
“My husband is a very selfless person; he has no ego. I’ve been married to him for 30 years and I’ve never fought over a girl. He doesn’t disturb me. If I have to go and do my work, I go and come back,” she revealed.
The award-winning actress also acknowledged that other couples may face different relationship challenges, particularly when trust has been broken.
“He trusts me totally, and I trust him. Our indices might not be the same with yours. You might be dealing with someone who broke your trust and you are trying to build that back, so those things are different,” she explained.
Reflecting on the depth of their bond, Omotola said it would be difficult for anyone to interfere in her marriage because of how long she and her husband have known each other.
“So for me, how do you want to penetrate? It is going to be very hard because I know this person. I’ve been with this person for 30 years, since I was 18,” she concluded.
