Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew believes the team does not necessarily need new additions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in a recent interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the skipper stated that the players who secured a qualification berth to the team deserve the opportunity to represent the country on the global stage.
Ayew pointed out the growing unity within the squad despite the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
“I think the players who played during the qualifiers have done extremely well,” Ayew said. “I don’t think we need any additions. I believe we have a good team, and as time goes on, we are improving. The unity is getting better, and everything is improving. I don’t think this is the right time to make changes,” he said.
The Leicester City attacker, however, admitted that the final decision on squad selection ultimately lies with the technical team.
“To be honest, on the technical side, the coach will know whom to attach or select,” he added.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L of the tournament alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
They are expected to gear up their preparations for the tournament with high-profile friendlies against Austria, Germany, Mexico, and Wales.
