Ghanaian gospel musician, Samuel Opoku, known Bro Sammy has confirmed that his marriage to his France-based wife, Obaa Yaa, has ended.
Speaking on United Showbiz, the singer said the divorce was initiated by his wife after she instructed her family to return the customary drinks used during their traditional marriage.
“I haven’t ended my marriage. It is I who has been divorced,” he said.
Broda Sammy explained that he was performing at a show in Manso during the Christmas period when his family head informed him that the drinks had been returned.
“I was performing at a show in Manso during the Christmas period when my family head called to inform me that my drinks had been returned from France,” he stated.
According to him, his family initially refused to accept the drinks because he had not been consulted.
But, a meeting was later held, during which his wife confirmed on the phone that she had instructed her family to return the customary drinks.
“When she was asked, she said I had not done anything bad to her,” he added.
