The Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) has clarified the circumstances surrounding the procurement of ICT equipment worth GH¢2 million.
It stated that the process was transparent and compliant with Ghana’s Public Procurement laws.
According to the Authority, the procurement involved over 100 pieces of ICT equipment, including laptops, tablets, printers, and solar-powered inverter systems, to support the Authority’s operations.
The equipment was part of a broader plan dating back to 2024, with several needs inherited and already budgeted for.
The GSA shortlisted five experienced firms based on technical capacity, track record, and after-sales support, and received formal approval from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) before conducting a restricted tendering process through the Ghana Electronic Procurement Platform.
The contract was ultimately awarded to Urban Tech Solutions Limited at a renegotiated cost of GH¢1.4 million, representing a savings of approximately GH¢600,000 to the state.
The GSA further explained that restricted tendering was used to ensure efficiency, maintain quality standards, and guarantee timely delivery.
