The Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area, Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, has called on Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) to extend its transport services to the people of Atebubu and its surrounding communities.

This, he noted, will make transport services more accessible to the people and help boost economic activity as well as reduce post-harvest losses in the area.

The Chief made the appeal when he recently paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of MMTL, Kale Cezar, Esq.

He emphasized that farmers in Atebubu continue to face significant challenges due to the absence of a major commercial transport system, resulting in financial losses and wastage of farm produce.

He noted that the introduction of Metro Mass services to the municipality would support farmers, ease the movement of goods and services, and enhance the economic fortunes of the area.

Ohempon Dr. Asiamah praised the leadership of the company and encouraged the management team to remain committed to their efforts in transforming the national transportation sector in line with the government’s development objectives.

Responding to the appeal, Kale Cezar, Esq., briefed the Paramount Chief on the challenges he inherited upon assuming office and outlined various interventions introduced to improved operations.

These include salary enhancements, welfare improvements, and incentives aimed at boosting staff morale.

He also disclosed that Metro Mass is expecting new buses, with the first batch scheduled to arrive by the end of March, 2026, and additional units expected in the subsequent months.

Mr. Kale further assured Ohempon Dr. Asiamah that the company is committed not only to operating buses along the Atebubu route but also to opening a full branch office in the municipality to serve both the town and its surrounding communities.

He added that Metro Mass Transit will soon introduce cargo vehicles to support farmers and traders by facilitating the safe and efficient transport of goods.

This initiative, he noted, aims to strengthen the agricultural value chain and the economic well-being of residents across the Atebubu area.
