Market women at the Dome market in the Ga East Municipality are up in arms over the demolition of their trading containers by municipal authorities, leaving many without a means to earn a living.
The action, reportedly taken “by order from above,” has sparked outrage among vendors who claim they were not consulted before the decision was made.

“We are just trying to make a living for ourselves and our families, this order from above does not help us at all. We need support, not destruction,” a market woman lamented in an interview with Angel FM reporter Van Brown.

Engineer Jackson Glover, head of works at the Assembly, explained that the demolition is part of efforts to improve the municipality’s aesthetics and functionality, citing zoning regulations and safety concerns.

However, the market women dispute this, saying the promised relocation site is already occupied, leaving them with nowhere to go.
